Well, I'm lucky enough to have Adobe Premiere Elements
, which is one of the best video editing programs. But if you don't have it, I'll tell you right now you're not going to want to buy this (mucho $), so I'd go with Windows Movie Maker if you're on a PC or iMovie if you're on a Mac. They both come with the computer.
First you need to have everything you need on your computer. If you want to make an R/Hr vid, then you'll need the movies on your computer. I recommend DVD Shrink
(you're on Windows, right?) for this- it's free and super-easy to use. I can talk you through putting the DVDs on the computer if you use it- don't ever, ever, ever
open someone else's fanvid in WMM and edit their clips out. Ever.
Once you do that, I started planning. I Googled all the lyrics and made a Word document with them- a line looked like:
Lyric: "You say you're tired of chasing the stars"
Episode: Boom Town
Scene: Rose running from the TARDIS
This helped 'cause I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Decide now what tone you want the vid to have- there's everything from one of the best fanvids I've seen, a serious one called Square One
(which you should totally download even though you don't watch Farscape, I swear it's amazing), and what's called a crack!vid, like this very funny one
on YouTube. Once you've done that all you need to do is open everything in the program, and match the clip to the words! Good luck! :D
(Oh, and I'm planning to do another one over Winter Break. They take hours on end. :P)
